Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness - PS2 - has better graphics, controls, interface and physics Tomb Raider III - PC - use xinput controller when playing on PC, textures, sound effects and resolution are higher, consistent framerate and no load times at all, save game anywhereĦ. Tomb Raider II - PC - use xinput controller when playing on PC, textures, sound effects and resolution are higher, consistent framerate and no load times at allĥ. Tomb Raider Underworld - PC - same reasons aboveĤ. Tomb Raider Legend - PC - same reasons aboveģ. Tomb Raider Anniversary - PC - allows for the highest framerate, quickest load time, many mods (graphic and gameplay), skip intro videos, play with k+m or controller, etc.Ģ. TR is my favourite franchise and I've played each pre-reboot games many many times, so this'll be my official recommendations:ġ. It's definitely worth playing the Core Design TR games, they are among the best games ever made and no games to this day have surpassed their platforming, puzzle solving and atmospheric exploration as 1 package. I understand the early TR games became crap at some point, after like III or IV or something? Tangential question: Has a Tomb Raider ever even been released on a Nintendo console?! Actually I didn't own any PlayStation hardware at all until shortly before Legend came out which is why I started there. I didn't like Tomb Raider 2013 that much and decided not to play Rise, but I was always kinda sorta intrigued by the earlier games.īack in the day I didn't own a PlayStation or a PC that could run the first few TR games. I liked Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld a lot (Anniversary the most because it had almost no combat which was the worst aspect of those games) for the puzzle solving. I only started playing Tomb Raider games with Legend. Also, I have a CRT TV and that's what I'd probably use in the event I play the PlayStation versions. Has someone made a good Steam controller layout for those games? If I played on PC I guess I'd try to get console-style controls. If the game is good enough I'm not picky about having totally modern controls. Controls might be a slightly bigger issue. I also have a PS2 if the choice ends up being PS1 discs for some reason.ģ. The PS1 versions are on PSN right? I have a PS3 and a PSP on which to play them. I guess my options are Steam or PlayStation. If on PC, I'd like to find a way to go back to software-rendered graphics or whatever.Ģ. In fact if I were to go back and play OG Tomb Raider I'd want to play it as close to original graphics as possible. Please don't flair text posts as 'Self-submission'.1.
